Come As A Child

Come As A Child

The Lord may lead us tenderly and affectionately into the deep waters of adversity; not to drown us, but to cleanse us!

Matthew 1:1-2, “The disciples (came) unto Jesus saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven? Jesus called a little child and set him in the midst of them. And said, Verily I say unto you, except you be converted, and become as little children, you shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.”

Mark 10:15, Jesus said, “Verily I say unto you, whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.”

Nicodemus came to Jesus at night; obviously he had no desire to be seen with the Lord because he was a Pharisee. Jesus said to him, as written in,

John 3:3, “Verily, verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

Years ago, Jimmy Carter was running for the President. He did an interview with Playboy magazine; in his comments he told the reporters that he “was born again.” In the article, the reporters put quotes around the phrase not knowing what he meant, because they had this 20th century worldly view of what being born again meant. And this view is the same today as it was with Nicodemus.

Nicodemus replied to Jesus comments, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born?”

There you have it; the 20th century man is no different that Nicodemus was 2000 years ago, all interpreting these words in the physical and not the spiritual.

To come to Jesus Christ as a child! Cynics; those with giant egos, intellects and the proud can never come to the Lord as a child. Have you ever know intelligent, successful people who are full of convincing words? If these are caught up in some tragedy such as an incurable disease, they never pull the intellect word game on God?  Their approach becomes that of a child, humble in the fullest sense. So if and when difficult times come, say:

I. I don’t have to like it.

2. I don’t have to explain it.

3. I don’t have to understand it.

4. And I don’t have to fix it.

All I have to do is trust God!
