A Christian’s Goal

11/30/23

As Christians, we aim to raise people’s attention to God’s view. Many things distract us in this age of continual motion, and our time for God’s word has suffered.

I have grown weary of the bickering between rival churches and conflicting doctrines. Self-indulging men and women have contaminated the gospel message today. As Jude put it,

Jude 12, “These are spots (hidden reefs) in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruits wither, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots.”

The works of the flesh attract men and women wherever they live, work, and play. God’s promises of grace lie hidden beneath the surface of our society, no longer in view. For the most part, the Bible is being ignored or ridiculed.

The name of the Lord profaned, and the fabric of Christian doctrine torn away, thread by thread. As wolves converge on weak prey, so do the rich, powerful, and corrupt. Surgically, they divide and, in due course, wear down the weak and the poor. They intend to eliminate the name of Jesus Christ from the lips and thoughts of men.

The weakness and instability in our churches are not from God but from the lying lips of false teachers who have penetrated these churches. The end product has produced an uneatable fruit. Self-examination is needed more than ever before. The relevancy of the Scriptures is in the truth it holds for all men. Understanding that produces sound doctrine and stability in a Christian’s life is needed.

What needs to be clarified is the poor quality and volume of various doctrines flooding the Christian marketplace. Many Christians appear to be in unrest, doing works for the church and God, but mostly without charity. Pragmatic investigation concerning human motives is not my concern; my concern is to bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ to a sick and dying world.

Adults and children have no shame, flattering themselves, and are up to their necks in indulgences. Sin is joked about; its attire is casual; it wears cheap jewelry and struts around like a peacock. The gospel narratives and counsels now seem distant, clouded over, unimportant, and, for many, meaningless.

Satan’s drumbeat grows louder, and the Christian community seems ready to scatter. When the first shot is fired, those of little faith will lose hope and flee into the darkness of their fears. We must find a new dedication, develop a keen ear, and cleave to the gospel message of Jesus Christ. Pray for a better understanding of God’s word, stand fast at the door of truth, and protect your family and friends from the corrupters of the truth. We need to say yes to God for the part that He has prepared for us in this world.
