Holiness of God

When we apply this word Holiness to the Creator, it follows that we must understand that He is perfect in integrity, moral character and is pure and holy.

The holiness of Jesus Christ is to found in the purity and quality of his character. Holiness is the consecration of all his high attributes to promote the highest good to all men.  Of his perfections we shall find the brightness of His glory, and harmony of His holy word.

Psalms 27:4, “One thing I (David) have desired of the LORD that will I seek after; that I may dwell  in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty (delightfulness) of the LORD, and to inquire (seek after truth) in His temple.” Compare with,

Revelation 21:22, “I (John) saw no temple therein (new city Jerusalem:) for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.”

Exodus 15:11, “Who is like thee (the Almighty,) glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?”

Without holiness, Jesus could not be God;

Deuteronomy 32:4, “He is the Rock, His work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is He.”  Compare with,

1 Corinthians 10:4, “And that Rock was Christ.”

His holiness is infinite and without limits; it cannot be increased or diminished, Immutable and invariable,

Malachi 3:6, “For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob (Israel,) are not consumed.” Compare with,

“Hebrews 13:8, “Jesus Christ the same yesterday and today, and for ever.”

God is holy of and in Himself; the author and promoter of all holiness among his creation. The holiness of God is visible by his work,

Genesis 1:31, “And God saw every thing that He had made, and beheld, it was very good.”  Compare with,

Hebrews 12:2, “Looking unto Jesus the author (the originator) and finisher (perfection and completeness) of our faith.”

Holy in His foresight to prepare for our future which is to promote holiness in the end for all men,

Hebrews 12:10, “For they (the fathers of our flesh) verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but He (our Father in heaven) for our profit, that we might be partakers of His (Jesus) holiness.”

By the grace of God which influences us, we are to be holy;

Titus 2:10-12, “Not purloining (pilfering,) but showing all good fidelity (faithfulness;) that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour (Jesus) in all things. For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present world.”

Peter 1:15, “But as He (the Father) which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation (conduct.)”

By his ordinances which he hath appointed for/unto the end,

Jeremiah 44:4-5, “Howbeit I (God of Israel) send unto you (His people) all my servants the prophets, rising early and sending them, saying, Oh, do not this abominable thing that I hate. But they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear to turn from their wickedness, to burn no incense unto other gods.”

The punishment for our sins have been transferred and done away with in the death, burial, and resurrection of our beloved Savior Jesus Christ: and his judgment and punishment of the wicked is just.

Matthew 25, Jesus said, “For these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.”

As believers in the Lord Jesus Christ we are to be pure in heart, morals, free from sin, chosen vessels that have been set aside for the glory of God.
