Pray For Your Pastor Pray For Your Pastor. Two friend had just come from a Sunday morning service at their local church. Bob asked Jake, "Did you enjoy the preachers message today?" Jake responded, "It was O.K." Bob asked, "Well, did you get any benefits from it? Usually you are critical, or not at all moved or inspired." Jake replied, "It seems that way doesn't it, I wonder why? For the most part, I don't even remember what the pastor had talked about." Jake hesitated and ask, "What about you? do you learn or receive any enlightenment from his messages?" Bob said, "Of course, I find them all profitable and usually come away well fed." Jake replied, "How can that be? We both hear the same message, why do I feel so let down, so empty after I leave?" Bob asked, "Do you ever pray for the pastor?" Jake said, "Not really, I never think about it. How about you? Do you pray for him?" Bob said, "I do. I pray that God may teach him, so that he may teach me." Jake said, "Well there it is, your prayers are answered." Bob said, "Understand this Jake, the preacher and the flock will either feed each other, or starve one another: What a person holds back in prayer, they usually lose in blessings. Those who attend service just to admire the view, be entertained, quibble or raise frivolous questions, will always come away empty. They usually receive little or no blessing. But for those who pray for their pastor, they continually have their body, soul, and spirit fed." Bob added, "Bear your heart to the Father in heaven and you will feast more abundantly upon the banquet He has spread before you." Here is the secret of a profitable trade that I would recommend to every Christian. The instant, affectionate, individual intercession of prayer for your preacher, when done in the spirit of faith, will bring back to you Christ's peace and joy. We will sit at God's table having been fed with manna from heaven. And in humble confidence receive the assured answers in the portion which the Holy Spirit is commissioned to bless us with.
