Greek Word: "Because." ![]() Because: 3754. Greek is, hoti. Conjunct. Demonstrative and causal, like English that. Construed in N.T. with the indicative; once by anacoluthon before the infin. Acts 27:10, See below in 1-c, and 1c-3. 1-a. As conjunct. demonstrative. pp. after a demonstr. pronoun as "This," or the like expressed or implied, John 3:18, "Because he hath not believed." Rom.2:3. 2 Cor. 5:14. Rev.2:6, "But this thou hast that thou hatest the deeds --" implied in ver.4. So, 1 John 3:16, "Hereby perceive we." 1 John 4:9-10-13, "Hereby." "That," c. indic is put in construction after certain classes of verbs, to express the object or reference of the verb; and is then equiv. to an accus. c. infin. or to the corresponding participial construction, and often alternates with these in one and the same verb. In English with the same classes of verbs it is likewise often optional whether to employ "that," with the indifc. or an accus. and infinitive; In Latin the regular construction is the accus. c. infin.
