Daniel’s Predictions Of End Times: Part 2

Let’s begin with the subject of clay. There are two types of clay spoken of by Daniel. First there’s potters clay: A species of earth which is firmly coherent, weighty, compact, and hard when dry; it can be drawn out when moist; smooth to the touch; is not readily diffusible in water and when mixed not readily subsiding in it. It can be molded into any shape; and therefore it’s the material potter’s make their various vessels.

Then we have miry clay, a clay that abounds with mud, grit and water logged. It cannot be molded or stretched, is water saturated and grimy to the touch, useless for the most part. God is the Potter and there are vessels that are used for his purpose, and vessels of miry clay having no purpose in the spiritual things of God.

Nebuchadnezzar’s image from head to toe: from the head of gold to the miry clay toes are represented as and have proven to be the enemies of Israel, of Jesus Christ and the Christian Church. I have no reason to think the iron mixed with both potter’s clay and miry clay are the same.

Let’s return to Nebuchadnezzar’s image. Daniel 2:33, “His legs of iron, his feet part of iron and part of clay. Verse 41, “And whereas thou saw the feet and toes, part of potters clay, and part of iron, their kingdom shall be divided; but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as you saw the iron mixed with miry clay.”

It appears Daniel is speaking of two separate powers. Commentators agree that iron represents the Roman Empire; iron with Potter’s clay most likely represents the Eastern and Western Holy Roman Empire led by the Popes of Rome. The church came out of a fallen Roman Empire. Lastly Daniel speaks of iron mixed with miry clay; a clay or people having little to no value to him, as in the religion of Islam, yet had they had their roots in the Roman Empire.

Verse 43, “And whereas you saw iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men, BUT they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.”

Miry clay is most likely representative of Islam, nomads for the most part, living throughout the countries of the Middle East, and today spreading their law, culture, and religion into every corner of the world. Their goal is to destroy Israel, to extinguish the flame of the Christian people and to make Islam the religion of the world. They do not mix their religion, their law, dress and culture with those of the nations they now inhabit. Their mindset is, “The world must change, not us!”

They Muslims are of the seed of Ishmael, he of the institution of the covenant of circumcision at the age of 13, a covenant of the flesh. Ishmael took for himself a wife from Egypt. She was the mother of 12 sons and daughters. Esau, Isaac’s brother contracted an alliance with Ishmael when he took unto a wife Mahalath the daughter of Ishmael.  They peopled the north and west of the Arabian Peninsula, and eventually formed the chief element of the Arab nation. Their language, which is generally acknowledged to have been Arabic commonly called and adopted with certain exceptions throughout Arabia. Because Ishmael was the first born of Abraham, the Muslims assert that he and not Isaac was offered by Abraham in sacrifice.

Based on the above, I understand that the Arab nations are the toes of Iron and miry clay spoken of by Daniel. The potter’s clay represents the five major European nations, Germany, Great Brittan, France, Spain and Italy. The five toes of iron and miry clay would most likely be Turkey, Libya Iran, Syria, and one of the Sudan, Ethiopia or Lebanon.

The “Stone cut out of the mountain without hands,” it shall break in pieces the iron, the brass and clay, the silver and the gold. This prophesy reveals to us that the Middle Eastern nations and those of Europe will remain sovereign until the Lord returns and sets up His kingdom for 1000 years.
