Man’s Intellect or The Holy Spirit?

Man’s Intellect or The Holy Spirit?

Jeremiah 4:22, “For my people is foolish, they have not know me; they are sottish (i.e. stupid, or silly) children, and they have no understanding: they are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge.”  Jesus said,

Matthew 10:16, “Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.”  Paul’s comment,

Romans 16:19, “I would have you wise unto that which is good, and simple = (harmless) concerning evil.”

So what is a Christians great challenge today?  Many are driven and directed by their intellect, while others have grasped the concept of being mighty in the Holy Spirit, and in their own spirit.

Intellect is to judge God’s truth with the mind. The mind which receives, and comprehends the ideas communicated to it by the senses, and other perceptions. It’s the faculty of thinking, and comprehension. Our intellect receives and then entertains the same ideas that others have communicated to it, then both agreeing in understanding.

To have the Holy Spirit in us is to comprehend the deeper things of God; as well as the hidden motives of men; and of good and evil. Intellect coupled with a stubborn self-will hinders, then destroys any potential of having the Spirit of God working in us; in this we become as fools.

Mankind has been endowed with a marvelous intellect, but with one limitation, we are not to use our intellect to do harm to others.

Genesis 3:5, “The serpent said to Eve, “Your eyes shall be opened, — Ye shall be as gods knowing good and evil.”

Satan and his deception, these are the hypnotizing effects of evil; with a fascinating and agreeable swagger, its insinuating manner is constantly beckoning us to move away from the will of God. Iniquity disguises itself, than seduces us into a calm and secure satisfaction with ourselves.

For reasons no man will ever understand; why has Satan been permitted by God to tempt, and torment man, and at the same time, to maintain His own superiority over him? Only God can take the wisdom and cunning of Satan, and his disciples in their own craftiness, and produce, “Good out of evil.”

Pseudo intellectuals are vigorously trying to defend their rights to use their mind to study all the details of evil. God has never intended man to learn by experience the expressions, and the burdens put upon us by the powers of darkness.

The spirit of a Christian will judge truth, when in union with the Holy Spirit; and in harmony with the Scriptures. Ask yourself, what rules my life; what are my preferences; what influences me, is it my intellect, or is my spirit united to the will of Jesus Christ?
