Contact! Sacrifice Keeps Lines Of Communication Open:

The government of England has a picture of a man frozen in death, underneath they wrote one word, “CONTACT!” Here’s the story!

The time, World War I, the place, somewhere on the front lines in Europe, a place where the battle was the hottest and a British detachment had been cut off from the main force. The men had gone out to gather information on enemy positions. Suddenly they were caught in the cross fire of German rifle fire and artillery shells. Their line of communication had remained open for a short while, but was eventually severed by a shell.  The captain called for a volunteer who could trace the line back to where it had been cut. Several men volunteered but only one was chosen.

The man crawled into the area called no man’s land and followed the wire to where it had been severed. Soon he found the place, took both ends of the wire, one in each hand in order to tie them together. But he failed because the wire was not long enough. Under heavy fire he lay there and held the two ends in each hand so communication would be restored.

But soon after, a shell exploded close by killing him, yet the line of communication remained open. The following day his comrade’s found him frozen in death, one line locked in his right hand, the other in his left, and through his body the messages had been passed throughout the battle.

Some 2000 years ago, the Son of God came down from heaven. His goal; restore communication through a line that had been severed by sin. He laid hold of God in one hand because He was God with us; He than laid hold of man in the other hand because He was man. Unable to make any connection in His life, He did make it when He died on the cross; and His Father heard the message through a bloodied and crushed body.

Today we still have that contact with the Father through his resurrected Son Jesus Christ.
